Hello
Sydney North Shore!

Join our amazing team of local Homestays hosting Japanese University Students for 20 nights this March.

Connecting the world through cultural and educational experiences.

Unique Australian Holidays Pty Ltd (UAH) has welcomed Japanese Students to Australia since 1986, enriching the lives of both Students and Homestays.

Students participate in short-term educational programs and sightseeing tours, whilst being hosted by local families for an immersive cross-cultural experience.

We invite warm and hospitable households across the country to join us for these wholesome experiences.

Together we create impactful moments that last a lifetime.

Payment is transferred to Homestays once Students have been collected on the first day.

Under no circumstances is bed sharing permitted, mattresses on the floor, or sharing a bedroom with any family members.

  • Arrival & Departure Day
Homestays are to drive their Students and their luggage to/from the local meeting point on arrival and departure days.

The meeting location on the North Shore will be advised once a placement on this program has been confirmed

    Weekdays
Students will travel to/from the University of Sydney via public transport at their own expense.

  • Weekdays: breakfast, packed lunch and dinner
    Weekends: breakfast, lunch and dinner

The expectation is that Students receive nutritious and balanced meals during their stay.

Should any Students have any dietary allergies or conditions, these will be advised during the Student/Homestay matching process.

This is an Australian cultural experience for the Students, therefore we encourage Homestays to celebrate our ‘Aussie’ iconic meals such as a BBQ, fish and chips or any other family meal traditions you may have.

  • An Australian Cultural Experience

The focus of their time with you is to experience your family home culture and explore Sydney together. Include them in your usual activities, in addition to planning some local, budget friendly outings over the weekend.

Some suggestions include: visiting Manly, Northern Beaches, ferry into the CBD, shopping precincts, spectating family weekend sporting matches, shared cooking experiences at home, family barbecues and game nights.

Please remember that should you choose to go out for a meal, or visit paid attractions (within reason) that costs are to be covered by the Homestay payment, not the Students.

  • Co-Ed Japanese University Students aged 18-23 years old, travelling on a cultural and educational study tour program from Tokyo, Japan.

Once registered you’ll be suitably matched with Students, at which time you’ll receive their full details.

  • Families, retirees, couples and individuals are all welcome to apply to become a Homestay with UAH!

Benefits
of being a Homestay

  • Enjoy exchanging your traditions, ideals and ways of life through spoken and unspoken insights - sharing meals, stories and exploring your local region together.

This mutual learning experience goes beyond just hosting—it's about building connections and forming lifelong friendships.

  • We go above and beyond industry standards in providing compensation for your warm hospitality. Not only do you open your home, but you also contribute to a fun-filled and memorable Australian experience for your Students.

It’s important to note that according to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), Homestay payment is considered compensation and is not included in your annual income. This means you can enjoy the benefits of hosting without impacting your tax obligations.

  • Whether you have a busy career, a family to care for, or simply enjoy your own space, our short term hosting opportunities enable you to integrate them into your life, rather than having to commit to a long period of time.
